Cold Case Investigation
The terminology Cold Case has been traditionally reserved for an investigation involving a person who experienced an unfortunate death and law enforcement was unable to solve the case for the departed’s loved ones. The US Department of Justice, FBI and other agencies However, Hunter Investigations regards a cold case as an investigation that has no closure. Redefining the parameters, brings Cold Case Investigations to an entirely different realm.
CCIs are unresolved cases for which answers are sought and fall into three basic categories:
Murder or Wrongful Death
Longstanding Missing Persons
Unresolved Unimpeachable
Murder is a term that is all too familiar; it needs no explanation. Wrongful Death, however, may become a murder case depending upon the outcome of the investigation; and often wrongful death, being a death that should not have occurred at the time it did may warrant a second look.
Longstanding Missing Persons involves a person who has gone missing for an extended period of time and the trail for their recovery has gone cold or disappeared. With Human Trafficking becoming the fastest growing crime around the world is it more important than ever to open an investigation for a missing person asap. Local LEOs will require a waiting period depending upon the age of the individual, however private detectives can be engaged in the search immediately.
Unresolved Unimpeachable category refers to cases that have not been solved and can no longer be considered an impeachable offense in the eyes of the law. In other words, the timeline for prosecution has passed but resolution is desired. Clients with cases that fall into this category simply want answers.
Even if your case, for whatever reason, does not fall into one of these categories it can be reviewed by one of our trained investigators. Following the case review our client will receive a written report with one of two recommendations: reopen the case as there appear to be areas of your case that were not explored; or leave it unsolved.
